Jude was born July 27, 2007 at 8:08 a.m., weighing 7lbs., 8oz. and 18 in. long. He was born by repeat c-section at Pomerado hospital in Poway, California.
He’s about two weeks old now and just doing great! Leslie’s family came out to visit and help, which has been wonderful. Her mom was here the first week, and now her brother James is here for the second week. Their main duty has been to play with Kai and Ezra while Leslie focuses on the new babe. Kai and Ezzy just adore their new baby brother and love to give him lots of hugs and kisses. We’re pretty amazed at how well everything is going so far and how well Leslie is recovering. We’ll keep you updated!
Yes, that’s right, a house!
We have to share this amazing story with you.
It starts back in March. Scott attended a Children at Risk conference in L.A. It was a great place to reconnect with friends and meet new people working in the field. During one of the breaks Scott invited Steve Bartel, one of the speakers, out to lunch. As they were driving they saw a group of people from the conference walking to find somewhere to eat. Scott pulled the car over and invited them all to lunch. They went to Marie Calender’s and had lunch together, about 8 people total. At the end of the meal Scott paid for everyone’s lunch spontaneously! Crazy guy.
So now back to current times. Last week we received an email from Brooke Burns, a lady who lives and works in Costa Rica. Her email started out, “I don’t know if you remember me, but you took me out to lunch at the Children at Risk conference…” She went on to say that she was planning on moving and wanted to know if we were interested in renting the house she’s living in when we come in October. She said many people are asking her aobut the house, but the Lord put our family on her heart and she wanted to ask us first! It’s a four bedroom house with three bathrooms, a back yard and a front yard, kitchen, living room, dining room, terrace and porch! And it’s also fully furnished!!! And it’s $600/month which is what we were budgeting for. Needless to say, we were very interested, but wondering about the location, Costa Rica is a big place and the house could be located anywhere! After more inquiries and checking with our friends down there we found out that the house is about a five to ten minute walk from the YWAM base where we will be working! Isn’t that amazing? This is our God and this is how He works when we follow Him, trust Him and start stepping out in faith. He comes through in amazing and unexpected ways.
We had been anticipating arriving in Costa Rica without a place to stay, staying at the YWAM base while looking for a small apartment to rent in the area, it was going to be really hard with a new baby, toddler and preschooler and all of our stuff. Now, we are going to be able to arrive and have a fully furnished house waiting for us. I am so amazed and in awe of our God!
